Pensioners are from Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Grant, Howard, Miami, and Tipton counties. This database lists the name of each pensioner, the cause for which pensioned, the post office address, the rate of pension per month, and the date of original allowance as called for by Senate Resolution of December 8, 1882.

The original documents are located in the Howard County Recorder’s Office; photocopies of the volumes are in the Genealogy & Local History Department of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library.  Many of the records include the service record, birthplace, physical description, residence, and signature.

This index is for honorable discharges registered at the courthouse in Howard County, Indiana. The men registering these discharges were predominantly Hoosiers, but natives of a surprisingly large number of states as well as several foreign countries are also to be found in the documents. The registrations were probably recorded when the individuals found employment in Kokomo or Howard County.

 

Kokomo VictoryLaunching of THE KOKOMO VICTORY 
A scrapbook, filled with photos and information about the WWII ship launched on 18 Dec 1944 named THE KOKOMO VICTORY, includes information about INDIANA WAR MOTHER of 1945 - Mrs. Clara Maddox. At the time of Mrs. Maddox's selection, she had seven sons in military service: James, Cleo, Ed, Gene, Lewis, Garland and Floyd.
